How to Make a Heart Shaped Valentine Cake
by Jane Lake
You don't need a heart shaped cake pan to make a heart shaped Valentine cake - just improvise with more readily available square and round cake pans.
You will need:
1. Prepare and bake a square cake and a round cake. Let both cakes cool.
2. Cut the round cake in half.
3. Following our diagram, place the square cake on a plate or serving board so that it becomes a diamond shape.4. Position the two half circle cakes, as shown, on either side of the top part of the diamond to form a heart-shaped cake. Cut and trim, if needed, to make the cake sections fit together properly.
5. Cover the cake with icing and decorate as desired.
Great idea! Thanks so much--how simple!
IT IS VERY VERY CLEVER
i found this very intersesting and quite fun to make
I think that this is a wonderful idea. I might just have to make one.
I agree this is a greoing at idea....I didn't want to spend time going to look for a heart shape cake pan that I would only use once...so I am very happy for this.....my kids will have a blast making this cake for a special someone on their birthday....thank you!!!!
GREAT IDEA! My future daughter in law wanted a heart shape cake for their wedding. I didn't want to spend money that didn't need to be spent. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing, you just SAVED ME LOTS OF MONEY. Thanks again and keep sharing your ideas.
i think this is wonderful idea and cant believe sommeone was rude enough to leave that first comment
so stupid..!! instead of making 2 cakes v can mak 1 heart shaped cake nd decorate it or buyin 2 cakes is wastage v cn ordr 1 heart shaped cake..
That is incredibly rude to say this is stupid! If you have nothing nice to say, please refrain from saying anything. The point isn't ordering cakes, it's MAKING IT YOURSELF. And you're not taking into consideration people that might not have heart shaped cake pans.
I think it is a wonderful idea, and I appreciate it that someone posted this. Thank you :)
I didn't even think of this way to make a heart shaped cake! It is so clever and obvious! For the following comments below, I agree, I didn't want to buy a specific cake pan either!
