Cat and Frog Plant Pokes
Project Instructions:
Start by sanding any imperfections on your heart stake and the wooden heart shape. Wipe off any sawdust with a clean rag.
For the frog, place the wooden heart shape on top of the heart stake leaving an inch of the heart stake showing.
For the cat, place the wooden heart shape upside down and glue on top of the heart stake, in the same position as shown in the photo. Essentially, the two arches on the wooden stake heart will become the cat's ears, with the upside down heart forming its face.
Now paint the frog green and paint the cat in the color your choice. Paint both sides, and include the stick part of the stake.
Print our Cat and Frog Pattern to give you an idea of how to draw and paint the facial features.
For the shading near the cat's cheeks, painted three different colored lines, then brush across the lines with a dry brush.
After the paint has dried, spray or brush on a sealer.
Place your heart stake critters among your potted plants and flowers.
Variations:
Try making these heart stake critters from craft fun foam hearts, attached to bamboo kitchen skewers or small sticks. Use green craft foam for the frog, and orange, white, brown or grey for the cat. Draw in the facial features with permanent markers or paint markers.
