Frog (24K)

Art Lesson:

How to Draw a Frog in 12 Easy Steps

Here's an easy art lesson that shows you how to draw a cute frog with step-by-step photos to follow along the way.

You Will Need:
  • Paper
  • Pencil, pen or marker
  • Color of some kind; colored pencils, markers, paint

  • Frog01 (14K)1. Draw 2 circles about 1 inch in diameter, and 1½ inches apart.

Frog03 (14K)3. Draw another half-circle inside each eye circle to form pupils.

Frog05 (16K)5. From the left side of the left eye, draw a curving line that goes below the eyes and connects to the right side of the right eye.

Frog07 (15K)8. Draw 3 vertical lines downward from the jaw line, about 3 inches long. These will be the front legs.

Frog10 (15K)11. Connect these lines with wavy lines to form the webbed feet of your frog.
Frog02 (15K)2. Draw a horizontal line through each eye circle.

Frog04 (13K)4. Draw a line from the top of the left eye to the top of the right eye.

Frog06 (15K)6. Draw a second curving line, going lower than the previous line, to form a lower jaw.

    7. Put 2 dots between the eyes for the nose.

Frog08 (14K)9. Draw a half-heart shape downward from the jaw line, one shape on each side of the front legs. These will be the back legs.

Frogmed (21K)12. Add any details you might think will personalize your frog.

    Tips and Variations:
  • A cheap, non-smudging sketching technique would be to use a light pencil crayon rather than a specialized pencil.
  • Experiment with different pupil shapes and placements.
  • Color the mouth red and pupils black, and the rest green, and add eyebrows off of the frog for a cartoon look.
