Curried Rice Jar Mix Recipe
Ingredients:approximately 1½ cups long-grain white rice
2 heaped tsps. of chicken bouillon powder
3 tbsp. dried minced or flaked onion
1/3 cup raisins
¾ tsp. curry powder
Layered Gift in a Jar Instructions:
Place 3/4 cup of rice in a one pint (or two-cup) jar, and then add separate layers of chicken bouillon powder, dried onion, curry powder and raisins. Pack the raisins down with a spoon and top with the remaining rice.
Note: If the jar isn't quite full, add a little more rice to bring the jar mix to the top of the jar. If you leave a space, the ingredients will shift and you'll lose the layered look.
Print and attach the Curried Rice jar label to provide the recipient with instructions on how to best use your gift.
What size jar was this intended for? I mixed two quart jars this morning, and both had to be topped off with extra raisins, rice and beepes.
1/2 quart (small) ziplock twist and seals work great. Yes, it doesn't fill all the way to the top.
You use a two-cup or one pint jar, not a quart jar.
If the ingredients don't quite fill the two cup jar (500ml jar), just top up with a little extra rice.
I made this recipe for a few friends two years ago and got rave comments. One lady asked me where I bought it so she could get some more. She was astounded to learn that I had made it from this free recipe. I give it 5 stars!
