Hello, this is the first time I am doing an english crochet pattern and I don't know what I have to do in rnd 6 and 7 of the legs pattern. I am not sure what blp means.

BLP means back loop - you crochet in only the back loop of the crochet stitch

Round 16 is a little tricky. If you are having trouble with your stitch count, the #s in the pattern are not correct. After Rnd 15, chain 21 (this will be spine of your pony). Sc in 2nd Ch and next 20 (not 19) ch sts. Now you are back to the base of the next. Sc in next 30 sc of Rnd 15. You are now back to the other side of the chain you made at the beginning of this round. Sc in each of these 20 chain sts and SC in the end SC. This will give you the 71 sts noted. There are also errors in the number of st in Rounds 18 (should be 93 not 94); Rnd 19 (104 not 105) and Rnd 20 (110 not 108). I also added two more rounds to Neck & Body (Rnds 38 & 39) Sc around each row to make the body a little deeper.

The instructions for attaching the head and ears are shown under the Tail instructions. Hope this helps.

Oops. Fourth sentence of my previous comment should read "Now you are back to the base of the Neck."

I am having problem with Rnd16 and further rounds. Please help me.
Rnd 16 => Sc in 20 ch sts + Sc in 30 Scs + Sc in Opposite side of foundation Ch. 20 + Sc in end Sc => 71
After 16th Round, I will be at the end Sc of the tail (i.e, end of foundation chain, which is away from the cylinder)

My question is
(a) How round 17 and further rounds should be started ?
-Is it like I have to start from the end of Sc and follow Rnd 17 ?

(b) Also Rnd 17 => 81 sc is not correct. As per the instructions it comes to 72 Sc only Can you help me ?
Rnd 17 - * Sc in each of next 7 Sc, 2 Sc in next Sc * repeat from * 7 times, Sc in each of next 6 Sc, 3 Sc in next Sc. (81 Sc).
( (7 Sc + 2 Sc) * 7 ) + 6 + ( 3 * 1 ) = 63 + 6 + 3 => 72 Sc only

Thanks

I just finished this (or my version of it). Round 16 is just a long chain (seriously, it's like a tail at first) coming out of the cylinder (the cylinder will be the neck). And then treat that tail like part of the cylinder in the next row. After a couple of rows, it will become clear how the shape works.

Put lots of stuffing in the neck if you want the head to stay up by itself--otherwise it slumps.

You don't have to fasten off the head. You can leave enough yarn to sew the head onto the neck later when you've finished the neck.

HI! Thank you so much for answering me back! I am still a bit confused though....Okay I finish round 15, then I chain 20 and then single crochet from the second chain, after I do that I am back to where I started the chain for round 16. When I keep going, not only don't I get the right number of stiches, but it looks like a loop off the the cylinder of the neck...so obviously I am doing something wrong......sigh Please help me!!! I feel so stupid :-(

Stacia:

I didn't actually count the stitches. All I did was chain a "tail" of 21 stitches and then sc back along the tail with 19 chains (and then I'm back where I started that row). Then I sc'ed around the cylinder (like you'd been doing all along). When you get back to the chain, sc along it, around the tip, and back to the cylinder (and then around it). Keep doing that. At first it looks like a cylinder with a long tail, but as you keep going the "tail" thickens and becomes the body.

I should have taken a picture. But until it took shape I was not sure if I was doing it correctly. Again, I tend to lose count of the stitches per row, I just dec and put two sc's when the pattern says to (every 3rd stitch or whatever), but I do not count the total stitches in the rows. My kids interrupt too much.

I gave it to a 3-year-old as a gift. She rides it around the house and puts it to bed every night.

I hope I am making sense.
