Chocolate Dipped Spoons

Stir a little chocolate sweetness into a mug of coffee, espresso or hot chocolate.

Plastic spoons

4. Make some spoons using white chocolate and others using dark chocolate.
5. Drizzle a contrasting chocolate color over each spoon.
6. Refrigerate until chocolate is completely hardened.
7. Wrap each spoon in cellophane, and bind it around with a piece of seam binding, or ribbon.

Food Gift Decoration Ideas:

Any way you wrap it, your recipient will be appreciative!

To decorate a:

Bag - It is easy to dress up a paper or cellophane bag. Line the bag with tissue paper. Use a hole punch, craft knife or scissors to poke holes or make slits in the bag; lace ribbon, string, buttons and/or decorative objects (sprigs of juniper, boxwood, greenery, jingle bells through the bags.

Bottle - Tie ribbons, raffia or twine around the neck of each bottle. Attach a homemade gift tag or small ornament.

Dish - Check discount stores and flea markets for unique plates, serving bowls, platters or tins. Stack the baked goods in a bowl, oversized mug, or canister and then wrap in cellophane and with a decorative bow.

Gift Tag - Personalize your gift tags! Start with scrapbook paper, cardboard, cookie cutters, felt, wood or premade tags. Then add your own special touches with glitter, ribbon, beads, stickers, puffy paint, or markers. Save your holiday cards and turn them into next years gift tags - just cut out the design or desired shape, thread and label it.

Jar - Cut a circle of fabric, tissue or wrapping paper 3" to 4" larger than the jar lid. Hold the circle in place with a rubber band and then tie a ribbon over the rubber band.

Could you put a little amaretto in the chocolate?

You can dip anything in chocolate. We like marshmallows dipped. Pretzels are especially good with the sweet & salty taste. For a turtle pretzel dip the pretzel in melted caramel, then in chocolate, then in pecans. Let the caramel dry a bit before dipping into chocolate.
Sometimes we don't capitalize because we're in a hurry & creative minds think fast!

Another good gift to add to a basket. is chocolate dipped pretzel rods rolled in red and green candy sprinkles for color. I know this is not very christmas like (pretzels) but when your busy getting that wonderful christmas dinner ready and the young ones are hungry but it is just not done, they will come in handy to give them. Just as a tied me over type of thing.

Don't need to melt chocolate at all. Grocery stores have white and milk chocolate tubs for dipping in the fruit section that you can microwave. Saves time and there is no clean up. Also you can keep leftovers for another time and reheat again. Not expensive and project will only take minutes from start to finish.

Don't microwave your chocolate. You are ruining it. Always, always use the double boiler method. Takes a little longer, but totally worth it. You don't need special pans to do it. Find two pans that will nest nicely, fill the bottom one with water, place the smaller one on top, bring to a boil and melt the chocolate in the upper pan. Your chocolate will be smooth and perfect for candy creation. BTW: My Mom use to say that little piece of advice all the time! :)

Mary, Melt your chocolate in a glass bowl at lower power, such as 30 or 50. Make sure you use a glass bowl, because a bowl made of other materials, such as plastic, will cause it to burn every time.

I have a difficult time melting chocolate in the microwave. It never reaches the right consistency and by the time it looks like it will, it is overcooked. HELP!! I was trying to make the chocolate covered spoons. Two tries and same thing happened. What am I doing wrong? It seems like such a simple thing to do.

I can't remember where I learned this tip, but when melting chocolate in the microwave only heat 1 minute. Remove from microwave and stir until smooth. If necessary to heat a little longer, only do so in 10 - 15 second increments - stirring after each.

When melting chocolate in the micorwave, I never microwave at the highest level. If I microwave at 1 or 2 minutes I do it at 50% or less. Always check by stirring after each turn. It may take a little longer but it works for me.
