buttercup, flower, and grape crocheted potholder set

Buttercup, Flower and Grape Pot Holder Set

Posted by Jane Lake

This cheerful set of three pot holders was originally published in the Star Pot Holders Book No. 101.

The “Puritan” and “De Luxe” brands of crochet cotton are vintage threads which aren’t available any longer, but generally you can substitute Size 10 Crochet Cotton with a 1.5mm steel crochet hook (U.S. No. 7 steel hook). If you feel the work is coming out too tightly, use a larger hook; if the pattern is too loose, try a smaller hook. Fortunately, gauge isn’t super critical on most pot holder patterns like these.

All three of the pot holders in this set share the same foundation pattern. However, since the buttercups, poppy and grape motifs are worked separately, then sewn on, you can also use these patterns to decorate other crocheted items, such as Crocheted Bags and Purses.

For this reason, and because the pattern instructions for each are far too long for a single web page, I’ve placed the individual instructions for the Buttercups Motif and the Poppy Motif on separate pages in my Flower Crochet section. The grape motif pattern is included on this page.
