household string or twine
Wooden Heart-Shaped Necklace or Key Holder
Instructions:
Paint the hearts in the base colour you have chosen. Here, we used latex semi-gloss interior paint, in hunter green. Allow to dry.
Using the photo as your guide, outline the small hearts with white dots around the edge, using white paint and a small paint brush, or white paint marker.
Next, form the outline of the larger heart. It is a series of half moons made of five white dots, the last dot of each one being the beginning dot of the next half moon. Allow to dry.
Position the cup hooks as shown in the photograph and screw in securely. Each hook should be an equal distance from the next, allowing as much clearance as possible between hooks. You may use wooden dowel hooks if you like.
Use the glue gun or craft glue to attach pregathered lace around the back edge of the large heart, beginning and ending at the top indent of the heart shape.
Attach the two smaller hearts together with a length of household string or twine, using the glue gun to attach the string to the back of each one. You will want enough string to allow you to form a hanger for the whole ornament and to position the two small hearts high on each side of the large heart. This keeps the smaller hearts out of the way of any necklaces stored on the holder and they may also function as extra hooks for more necklaces.
Use plenty of glue in attaching the small hearts. You might even need to run a bead of glue over the string, to stiffen it somewhat, in order to keep the small hearts in place behind the lace.
Finally, glue flowers to the top of each heart indent.
