Crochet Summer Tank Pattern
Materials:
Two skeins caron simply soft - whichever color you like.
Get your hooks ready... you need a variety of them.
Beads if you want them.
Pattern Instructions:
First, make two triangles:
Chain 26-35 (depending on your chest size), then single crochet entirely across the first row. As you double back over and over again, just decrease by one at the end of the row in order to make a triangle.
At the end of the triangle, immediately start making a chain without stopping and SC all the back across - this is the easiest way to make the straps/strings to tie behind neck.
BODY:
Working as one piece, single crochet the desired circumference around your chest area -- measure yourself first before starting. Although gauge is not REALLY important, it's important that you get your measurements correct.
Do not work in a round. Work it as one flat piece.
So... Ch as many as you like, then single crochet first row, then single crochet again the second row.
At the beginning of 3rd row, ch 3, skip 1st sc, dc in next ch. Dc in PREVIOUS chain to create the crossed V stitch.
Do that the entire way across to create the crossed V stitch.
Once you have desired length, the last row should be a row of DC.
Crochet LOOSELY up the sides, joining each end together to make a seam in the back.
Attach the triangles in the front, and WALA!! You've got a tank.
I encourage you all to experiment with ANY patterns for this. The most important part is measurement.
Good luck!

what size hooks did you use?
also--what size skein did you use? i know there are 6 and 3 oz skeins
What size is this pattern suppose to fit child adult plus size that info needs to be at the beginning the rest of the pattern seemed straight forward to me :)
I started making this tonight using Simply Soft and a size G hook. Did 25 across for the triangles and at each turn I skipped the 1st sc and decreased that way, 1 st each row. It worked perfectly. I also used a larger hook (H) to chain the top of the body (100 ch for 29"). Then did 2 solid rows dc, one row of dc skipping a st in between, and 2 more rows of dc so I could weave a tie between the spaces to cinch it. I'm working on the cross V stitch in a contrasting color. When I attach the triangles, I'll trim it in the contrasting color at the bottom. It looks great so far. I'm making this for my 11 yr old daughter. Thanks for a great and easy pattern!
what hooks??
hey i want to say first that this is an awesome shirt! but i was wondering what size hooks did you use for triangles and the bottom and also did you attach the triangles or continue on from them and how did you do it?, im kinda new.....thats why i have so many questions
I'm not sure if it's possible... but how would I go about using a thinner yarn? Would I just double the amount of stitches for everything, or...?
Thanks : )
hmm, I'm having a little bit of a problem. When I first started making the bottom half it fit perfectly... Now that I'm more than half way done with it it seems to have stretched to be about 6 inches too big... I'm confused... can I possibly fix this? if not, how in the heck do I get the right measurement at the beginning?
Sounds like you may be increasing stitches accidentally at the end of each row. It's easy to add or drop stitches at the ends of the rows. Count a beginning row and count an end row and see if there's a difference. I also worked mine in the round by joining at the end of each row, chaining and turning the work. This may help you, too. Let me know how you make out.
Beautiful! My 10-year old granddaughter thinks she is already a teenager, and she will love this!
Thanks very much!
