AllFreeCrafts: Free Crafts, Craft Projects and Patterns to Make Easy Homemade Gifts
Autumn brings with it our thanks for the harvest, with Thanksgiving Day being celebrated this year on October 8 in Canada and on November 22 in the United States. In this newsletter, you'll find gobblers, wobblers and pilgrim crafts to help you celebrate nature's blessings.
With the recent recall of so many children's toys, you might be thinking of making your own. Our round up of homemade children's toys, both cuddly and creative, is a great place to start and includes some Barbie clothes and accessories. To learn what manufactured toys are affected by the recall, please check the U.S. Product Safety Commission or Health Canada Consumer Product Safety for more details. Let's make sure all our kids play safe!
I was taught how to crochet flowers many years ago - so long that I wasn't sure that I remembered how. However, after a few false starts, I managed to turn some recycled yarn into a daffodil, daisy, carnation and poppy. Pretty enough to share, I thought - and I do so hope you agree!
Homemade Toys
Sew, Knit or Crochet Toys
Teddy Wolf Lovable teddy wolf sewing pattern.
Stuffed Hound Dog Almost life-sized hound dog to sew and stuff.
Crochet Frog Complete with little crocheted flies, this pouch frog is great for little boys to hide their treasures.
See more crocheted toys on our Crochet Patterns index, including a teddy bear, horse or pony, winged pig or Amigurumi Bunny.
Knitted Santa Toy Knit a cuddly Santa toy for homemade Christmas gift giving.
Corker Knitting Spool Call it a knitting nancy, knitting spoool, knitting knobby or corker - this is a great easy to make finger knitting toy for kids. |
Homemade Barbie Clothes and Accessories Even Barbie has been affected by the recent toy recall, but you won't have to worry if you make your own Barbie clothes and fashion accessories.
To make a suitcase for Barbie, like the one shown at left, spray paint a tin box then decorate with stickers. Punch two holes in the middle of the long side of the box and thread with thin ribbon to make a handle.
Use a little scrap yarn to crochet this stylish
Barbie Hat.
Here's another great find: a free printable Barbie dress pattern for the new belly-button Barbie body, complete with step by step photos and different variations of the dress.
Although there are no online patterns, on this gallery of Barbie clothes you will find photos of clothes sewn from a variety of McCalls and Simplicity patterns.
To help get you inspired, I just posted this article on Bringing Back Handmade Barbie Clothes.

Free Thanksgiving Crafts Fall is a time to celebrate the harvest and give thanks for all nature's blessings.Scarecrow Crafts
Make an old-fashioned Yarn Doll Scarecrow from one skein of yarn; cut out and glue together the scarecrow's clothes. If desired, add him to the Fall Leaf Wreath shown at right.
Turkey Crafts
Give the kids some craft foam and craft sticks to make the Turkey Pin, at left, or fashion the Silk Flower Turkey Pin, right, from a silk flower and felt. Use cardboard, chalkboard paint and feathers to make a Chalkboard Turkey Fridgie or hang a whimsical Turkey on a Hat on your door to welcome guests to Thanksgiving dinner.
Styrofoam Thanksgiving Crafts I fell in love with these wobblers and pilgrims from Dow Crafts.
For more Thanksgiving Day craft ideas, see our Seasonal Crafts index.
Decorating with Sheets Buy sheets on sale, or from the thrift store, and sew up some pretty bedroom accessories for a great new look on a budget.
