You'll love the simplicity of our round sewing pillow pattern - easy, peasy, beautiful! And who couldn't use a denim wall organizer, cleverly made from the legs of recycled blue jeans?
If you're looking for Halloween costumes, we have some easy makeup recipes, plus loads of frugal and creative possibilities, separated into ideas for toddlers, kids, men and women. Enjoy!
Simple Home Sewing Patterns
Easy Round Pillow Here's a design element that you'd pay a fortune for at a speciality bed linen store. But if you can sew a seam, you can make it yourself with this new sewing pattern; just sew two circles together and fasten with a tasselled cord around the stuffing!
Oven Mitts Many of us learned to sew by making oven mitts in home economics class. Sadly, home sewing is no longer taught in most schools. If you missed out, then here's the lesson you missed - complete with step-by-step photos and instructions. |
Denim Organizer Those tatty blue jeans with the knees out find new purpose in this stylish denim organizer sewn from the legs of old denim jeans. Sturdy enough to store your gardening tools, it also works equally well in the home office, craft area or even in the garage. How about making one for the hard-to-buy-for handyman in your life?
Pincushion Ring If you're going to sew, you always need a handy supply of pins; this pin cushion ring is worn on your finger as you work, so the pins are never far away. Sew a scrap of pregathered lace around a small circle of fabric, stuff, then glue to a plastic bottle cap with an elastic ring.

How to Make a Scarecrow Early man used scarecrows to scare predators away from food crops. Ever since then, this lone human figure has both attracted and mystified us. Our scarecrow is made from recycled dome tent poles. Remove the elastic cording and connect the poles with masking tape to make a rigid, two-legged scarecrow frame. Stand him against a tree or a wall and he's remarkably lifelike.
