We’ve added some new pine cone crafts to our Christmas Crafts section, so I thought that I’d highlight some of them here.
I adore this Pine Cone Kissing Ball, designed by Susan Spatone, - it’s a little nicer than plain mistletoe, while providing the perfect place for those Christmas kisses from family, friends and that special someone.
Another contribution from Susan is this magnificient Pine Cone Wreath craft, shown at left, which is perfect for this year’s Christmas trend toward natural, homemade accents.
For simplified crafting, start with a purchased wreath or, even better, update an old one that needs some sprucing up. You’ll only need seven pine cones and some bunches of artificial berries to make this easy Pine Cone and Berry Wreath for your front door.
You can leave these Pine Cone Christmas Trees, shown at left, natural or spray paint them in green or gold for a little more glitz.
Either version of the tree can be further embellished with tiny ornaments or berries.
I made this Christmas Woodland Angel craft several years ago, and I’m pleased to report that she’s still looking great, with double-leafed wings completely intact. I sprayed the finished angel with sealer, but wondered if it would really help preserve the dried leaves. It did!
Brownies and scout troups, or church youth groups, might like to try Miniature Christmas Pine Cone Trees, shown below left, each tree being made with a single pine cone. I recycled bottle caps to make the stands, so these are both eco-friendly and inexpensive to make.
If you have some spare flower pots, you can use those as the stand for a small, but elegant, Christmas Pine Cone Topiary.
Again, you only need a single pine cone for each topiary, and you can decorate the pot with paint and ribbons to suit your own color scheme.
