Everyone loves a snowman, which makes them a perennial favorite for Christmas crafting. I’ve added lots of new snowman crafts in the last few weeks, including this Winter Friends Wood Stake, which is made from wood pieces found in the off-cuts bin at Home Depot. If you’ve never done any wood work, this is a good beginner’s project, because it uses simple carpentry and painting skills.
The Candlecup Snowman, shown at right, and is also made of wood, but on a much smaller scale because the basic elements are wooden candlecups and a wooden ball for the head.
I love this Snowman Hurricane Centerpiece, painted on a glass hurricane globe, and surrounded by some Christmas greenery. Lovely to light up a mantle or the center of your Christmas table.
You can make these Mr and Mrs Mittens Snowman Decorations, from infant mittens. To make a larger version, though, you just scale up the elements, using a larger pair of mittens as the base. Position the scarf correctly, and you never notice that each of these snowman figures has only one arm, made from the mitten thumb.
If you’re like me, and you find the hundreds of rubber stamps in the craft stores these days rather intimidating (and you don’t quite know where to begin) then pick one with a snowman theme, and another with a seasonal greeting, and make your own Stamped Snowman Christmas Cards. It’s an ideal way to begin rubber stamping, and this project includes tips on how to use watercolors to embellish the cards (and, yes, you can use those cheap watercolor paint sets that’s the kids love so much).
Of course, we have lots more Christmas Snowman Crafts, including snowmen to make from recycled creamer bottles or paperback books, pill bottles, or this cheery little fellow, made from an old CD and a juice can lid.
