Scrap fabrics can produce some of the most beautiful sewing projects. Case in point, the colorful Crazy Quilt Pillow shown here, which is a modern version of the old-fashioned crazy quilting that was popular with the Victorian ladies. Although you could embellish this pillow top with hand-sewn embroidery, some very nice effects can be had by using the embroidery stitches available on your sewing machine. If you haven’t tried them out yet, here’s your chance!
You’ll only need a small piece of scrap fabric to sew this Towel Topper - and, for the pattern, all you need do is trace around the pointed end of your iron.
Yo-yo’s, which are small circles of fabric gathered into rings, are the base for this Scrappy Yo-Yo Placemat. Make it a little longer and you have a table runner. Either one would make great use of your fabric stash.
If you have about half a yard of 45″ inch wide material, you can make a Toddler Smock, a quick and easy, very practical project that sews up in about half an hour.
For those with kids to sew for, this Doll Head Barrette Holder also sews up quickly. Braid the hair from craft yarn to hold barrettes, scrunchies or hair ornaments.
