I had fun making these little bells for the Christmas tree. I began with the crocheted bell, then my mother said she’d like one knitted. Well, you know what mothers are! At least mine. She just said that she remembered her mother making some years ago, working the pattern sideways, so with that to go on, I fiddled around and came up with the sample, shown here, pretty much actual size.
I knitted this one on my Grandmother’s knitting needles, which came from England. Always a bit of puzzle when I’m working on a specific pattern that needs a specific size, because I never know whether the English needles are the same as the ones specified.
For the Knitted Christmas Bells, I don’t think the needle size makes that much difference but, just for the record, I used steel needles, labeled Size 9, or 3-1/2m/m, which doesn’t quite conform to the equivalents shown here. The brim on these bells is made from a short strip of purl stitches which rolls up pretty much on its own.

The Crocheted Christmas Bells have less of a rolled brim; it’s shaped more like the brim on a real brass bell. Done in metallic sparkling yarn, both versions look very pretty on the Christmas tree. But I also think, done in white, they would be terrific to hang from a horsehoe for a wedding, or to trim a wedding gift.
I just finished these two Crocheted Christmas Wreath Ornaments, which can be done plain, in worsted weight yarn or Christmas sparkly yarn. But I kind of like the beaded wreath, which is done by threading beads onto the yarn before beginning, then sliding each bead up to add into your work. Pretty!

Would you happen to know where to find a crochet pattern for a baby sweater that uses loops? I had it years ago and can’t find it anymore. I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.
Pat
Hi, Pat,
No, unfortunately, I can’t think of baby crochet pattern like that, but I’ll keep an eye open for it, and be sure to let you know if I find it.
