Here’s a homemade version of two traditional games that are easy enough for older children to make themselves. Either would make a nice rainy-day craft - and, when you’re done, you can sit down to enjoy a game!
Shown at left is a Faux Wood Checkers Game, made from a recycled pizza-style box with a flip-up top. You can store the game pieces inside the box when you’re finished playing.
The same applies to this two-piece game set, shown at right, which is a homemade wooden board for Tic Tac Toe, with a matching wooden box to hold the game pieces.
Checkers and tic tac toe are universal games with wide appeal across most age groups. I think either of these would make great homemade gifts for kids to make for a friend, cousin or younger sibling.
