Ladybug Crafts

ladybugs on leavescrocheted ladybugLadybugs are one of my favorite insects, so I just loved this Little Ladybug free crochet pattern from designer Christen Haden, author of Creepy Cute Crochet.

It’s rated easy to make, and I think it would be a great project for someone just learning crochet.

ladybug rock paintingFor kids looking for a homemade gift to make for mom or dad - how about a Ladybug Rock that you paint yourself? It’s kind of a combination pet rock and paperweight, but I keep mine on the kitchen windowsill as an ornament because I just like looking at it.

foam ladybugWe also have this free craft project to make Craft Foam Ladybugs. Just follow four easy steps and the simple diagram to make your own. You can use it as a fridgie, or fold some card stock in half and glue it to the front to make a three-dimensional ladybug greeting card.

  1. Help!!! My daughter is 2 and terrified of ladybugs so I wanted to sew her a ladybug pillow or stuffed animal so she might get over the fear. She wakes up screaming in the middle of the night. Anyone have any ladybug ideas? I have red and black fabric already!!

  2. Hi, Veda,
My daughter had night fears too, at a very young age, so I know what you’re going through. I think you’re on the right track, because facing her fear in a safe, secure fashion will help a lot. What about making a circular pillow/pajama case in a ladybug design that can hold her night clothes? Also, I’d look at Ladybugs on Amazon for ideas to help, whether that’s toddler books, videos or whatever. Ladybugs are very helpful insects, especially in the garden, so perhaps you’ll find something she likes that also features a ladybug in a non-threatening fashion.
    Good luck!
