Decorating Glass Jars

Look what you can do with a little paint and a glass jar! Just print out and trace one of the free patterns onto a jar, then follow the craft project instructions.

Either of these painted jars can be used as a canister or a decorative accent in your kitchen. Just top with a glass votive or small terra cotta pot to make the jar into a candle holder. See Scarecrow Pumpkin Jar or Sunflower Jar for more details.

If you’re looking for a simple painting project, try your hand at these Wheatsheaf Jars, (shown below, left). The motif is done with paint pens, and is as simple as touching the paint pen tip to the glass in a series of dots to form the wheatsheaf stems. Because the design is minimal, and you can easily see the contents, these jars look even better when filled with dried legumes, pasta, herbs or spices.
