My most treasured Christmas decorations were made when my children were small. Using humble supplies like juice can lids, egg cartons or old cards, plus lots of that magical Christmas ingredient - glitter - the kids fashioned all kinds of beautiful Christmas tree trims and ornaments.
If your budget is tight this year, look around for common household items that you can recycle as Christmas decorations. Dish detergent bottles make a great base for angels or Santas, as do tin cans and cardboard containers. Turn kid’s footprints and handprints into easy reindeer art, make a reindeer from birch branches, snow globes from baby food jars, or mini Christmas trees from pinecones.
Use old Christmas cards for a variety of ornaments, gift boxes or tree trims. Make a toy soldier from a clothes peg, or a bottle cap ornament to trim the Christmas tree. Turn a plant pot into a reindeer, or print out a snowman model on just one sheet of paper.
