AllFreeCrafts Newsletter
When I first launched this blog, I thought it would work to replace the previous newsletter that I had sent out for several years by email to over 7,000 subscribers. However, many of you have written to me asking for a return of the old-style email newsletter - so I’m very pleased to announce that the AllFreeCrafts Newsletter is back!
You can view the new AFC Newsletter Archives to see what others have been receiving and find out whether it is something you would like to read yourself (the subscriber email version does not display the sidebar ads shown online).
My aim now is to write the newsletter twice a month, although that might be pushed up to once a week as we enter the busiest fall and winter season for crafters. I include links to all the newest craft projects added to the site, but also feature small craft ideas exclusive to the newsletter - for instance, the last newsletter included instructions on how to make a Barbie suitcase and sewing instructions to make a round table cover.
Different Strokes for Different Folks
When I first launched AllFreecrafts.com in 2002, I wrote craft instructions for easy homemade gifts and relied on Microsoft Word to turn them into the html code needed for a web page. My coding skills are still light years behind the industry standard – as is my knowledge of blogs and newsletters. But, as a dedicated crafter, one thing I do know…you can learn from what people tell you — and what I’ve been hearing is that some of you like to stay updated through an email newsletter, and others prefer the blog (yes, you can also subscribe by email for blog updates, subscribe to the blog feed, or view it online as well) – so now we have both!
There’s one further option: join the AllFreeCrafts Yahoo group, where I post new crafts as soon as they are online, and over 700 members share their favourite craft links from all over the net. This is a friendly crafting community that will help you find long-lost patterns or suggest new crafting adventures for you to try.
The best thing for me, the thing that makes everything worthwhile, is the fact that people care enough to read this blog, join the Yahoo group, or subscribe to the newsletter – and, most important of all, come to the site. According to Quantcast, AllFreecrafts receives over 140,000 unique visitors every month – and, as we get closer to Christmas crafting, that figure will likely double or treble. Wow!
What I’m hoping for the future is to see more reader submissions – and, yes, I will pay you for acceptable, original craft ideas that also include a photo. Look for more on this soon – on this blog, in the newsletter, and on the Yahoo group. However you choose to keep in touch, you are sure to find me there, waiting for you …

I love this site and have a recycling idea.
I have magnets of a bus, house, diamond, star, etc…I find a picture that would look good (I have used photos, old card pictures or just magazine clippings.) It is then sized to fit the magnet and glued on. You can use them for decorations or gifts. Why throw out the magnets just because you don’t need the design on it anymore. Reuse it and have fun.
I love that magnet idea. Thank you!
