Decoupage Puzzle Blocks

Decoupage Puzzle Blocks are a unique craft that you can make to suit both the recipient and the occasion.  Perfect to give at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, this project is unusual in that it works equally well for men or women, boys or girls.

The basic project consists of covering six wooden blocks with six different pictures or photocopied photos.  The themes, of course, are endless - the craft designer suggests dog theme pictures for a dog lover, teddy bears for the mom-to-be (a great baby shower idea!) or images that illustrate a special interest, sport or hobby.

Just after Christmas, I read about a Secret Holiday Project that was inspired by the Decoupage Puzzle Blocks page.  The author used baby photos of herself with her father as the puzzle pieces, then took the project one step further, staining and decoupaging a wooden box to contain the picture blocks.  There were a few glitches, but to my mind, the finished project looked wonderful.  The dad involved was misty-eyed when he saw this gift, made with such love by his daughter; he spent quite some time trying out the different puzzle combinations, with each one bringing back a special memory of their relationship.  What greater gift could there be than the spirit of love that went into this craft project?
