Dryer Lint Crafts

I had some fun writing this article on the Many Uses of Dryer Lint - and have to admit that the many uses of dryer lint surprised the heck out of me.  Maybe you will be equally surprised.  Did you know, for instance, that dryer lint can be used to make paper, sculpted into exhibition quality objet d’art or formed into faux paper mache?

dryer lint dust bunny  You’ll find recipes for dryer lint clay and dryer lint paper mache pulp, but there are lots more suggestions for  using this grey, fluffy substance that magically grows itself every time you use the clothes dryer.  There are also some caveats — dryer lint is extremely flammable, which makes it great as a fire starter (you’ll find suggestions on this too) - but please don’t use it to stuff toys, quilts or anything else that intimately surrounds you or your family members on a daily basis.  It’s a great fire starter.  Enuff said?

I do hope you like my dryer lint dust bunny!  I stuck this little guy under my son’s bed, then nagged him as usual to bring to the kitchen the assorted plates and dishes that he seems to think belong under there.  He won’t admit it, but I got him but GOOD.

Before you ask - dust bunny is now living another life as a mulch for my patio container plants.  I’m expecting rain tomorrow, so I’m hoping the lint works as I think it will, and let the rain through, then conserve it in the container potting soil.  I’ll let you know!
