Hot Glue Tips

Here are some free tips to remember when using your hot glue gun:

  • Have glue strings on your hot glue project? Use a embossing tool to melt those strings away.
  • Store your glue sticks in a shoe box with a few cone incense then, when you are hot gluing, you get a nice scent.
  • You can correct a mistake that you made with hot glue by placing the object on wax paper, then in the microwave for 1 minute (note: don’t try this with metal objects).
  • A glue gun will slowly drip glue from the tip when the gun is heated, so always set it upright, over a clay pot saucer or newswpaper, to catch the drips.
  • Put hand lotion on your hands before hot gluing to help prevent the glue from sticking and burning your hands.
  • When gluing lace and thin material with hot glue, protect your fingers by wearing a metal thimble.
  • Caution: Hot glue guns can be dangerous and should not be used by children.
