Recycled Coffee Can Bird House

Recycle a coffee can to make a cheerful birdhouse to hang in your garden.  Painted like a bee, it’s also whimsical garden folk art to brighten up a shady spot.

  • use a Folgers plastic can to make a bird feeder
  • the new large plastic coffee cans also make wonderful kitchen compost containers or canisters for flour, sugar, rice or cereal
  • use metal coffee cans to make a candle luminaria (fill with water, freeze, punch holes in the sides in a star shape or other design, dump the water then add a candle)
  • make faux enamel ware - just paint the can blue, then splatter with white; add a twisted wire handle and embellish with raffia or small dried flowers for a rustic country look
